BRONZE UMBRELLA & CANE HALL STAND

Unattributed
France, circa 1925

25" high; 37" wide; 8" deep

The hammered tripartite figural structure is modelled as tree trunks on each side with intertwined serpents centrally on a rectangular base. The tree trunks were designed to hold umbrellas with drawers in the base to allow water to be emptied. The central area was designed to hold canes. The high quality of artistry and metalwork of this piece leads one to believe that it is by an important designer, but the maker is not known.
