The bowed stained wood frame is decorated with panels of brown galuchat all around, the outside of the footboard and the inside of the headboard each with a starburst design. This bed was the central element in a suite comprising a bed, bedside tables and a commode made by Chanaux for Groult. Chanaux had built a reputation for his skills as a cabinet maker specializing in galuchat and had worked for Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann and Jean-Michel Frank.

Impressed Chanaux monogram twice on the footboard/ numbered 1602/ dated Annee 1927.
