MACASSAR EBONY AND AMAZONITE BUREAU PLAT & CHAIR

This magnificent desk has the shape of a traditional French bureau plat with a diamond pattern marquetry top and Art Deco details. There is a rounded apron with an arrangement of two short drawers flanking a kneehole drawer on either side. One kneehole drawer is fitted with a large tessellated amazonite writing slide. The escutcheons are round amazonite and the drawer lock is inscribed Charles Bernel, Paris. This desk is believed to be unique and was probably a custom order.
The chair is barrel-form raised on four arched legs and upholstered in the original brown Moroccan leather.
