Kelly Gallery specializes in exceptional 20th century decorative and fine arts. The gallery draws curators, both amateur and established collectors, as well as architects and designers with its wide range of offerings.
Renovated and designed by the late Jay Spectre and Geoffrey Bradfield, the gallery is housed in an intimate and elegant residential setting on the top three floors of a landmark town house located in the Upper East Side Historic District of Manhattan.
For the past 34 years, Stephen E. Kelly has collected museum-quality Art Deco pieces including rare and important works by renowned designers such as Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Eileen Gray, Jean-Michel Frank, Jean Dunand, Eugѐne Printz, and Armand-Albert Rateau. There are ceramics by notable artists Émile Decoeur, Henri Simmen, Jean Besnard and others; and glass by designers Jean Luce and Michel-Aristide Colotte is represented. The breadth and scope of this Art Deco collection extends further to a large array of decorative boxes, desk and vanity accessories, photograph frames, medals, walking sticks, shagreen objects and jewelry, including an extensive selection of cufflinks.
Offerings include a finely curated selection of period Art Deco sterling silver flatware and hollowware, including exquisite works by French and continental designers such as Jean Puiforcat, Georg Jensen, Cardeilhac, Gustave Keller Frères, Wolfers Frères and Tétard Frères.
Additionally, the gallery presents a wide range of fine art including sculptures, painting, prints, and other works on paper. Prominent are modern and contemporary works by artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Jasper Johns, Man Ray, Max Ernst, Fernand Léger, Sonia Delaunay-Terk, and Ross Bleckner. Alongside those are Art Deco period sculptures by artists Gustave Miklos, Joseph Csaky, Jan & Joel Martel and others.
